The readings of today may cause many of us to panic. Why? Others live in sin but we are held responsible for not telling them to turn to God. Is this fair? Well, the readings tell us today that we all are responsible for one another. Why should we care about ourselves only and not bother that our brother is living in sin? The second reading admonishes us to live in love with everyone else. Where this love is lacking, those who withhold it store up guilt for themselves. It is a “debt” they have to pay. We must owe others nothing, says the second reading, except to love one another.

PRAYER: O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be loved as to love. Amen.
