Then Jesus said to the dead man: “Young man, I say to you, arise.” This same command he says concerning us. “Arise”, he says. You have slept for too long. For too long you have escaped from true life and have sojourned in the land where you can at best be described as dead. If you do not live for Christ, you have died in yourself. If every day, at sun set, you do not lie asleep with a good and clear conscience, you are the dead young man in today’s gospel, and you need the Saviour to touch the bier, that the bearers may “stand still”. Let the noises in your world be still so that the voice of Jesus, “young man, I say to you, arise”, may be heard loud and clear in your life. So, the dead man sat up and began to speak. So shall it be in your life.
PRAYER: Speak Lord. Call forth the life that eludes me, and let me hear your sweet voice which is life unto my soul
